Holstee Coming to RISD!

Posted by Carly Ayres | Date Posted: 19 November, 2010

Founded by brothers Mike and Dave Radparvar, Holstee designs and curates products that are carefully considered so that they are not only fashionable and functional but also as sustainable and socially responsible as they can be. Holstee hopes to inspire with their designs, such as The Recycled Wallet, which is made of newspapers and plastic bags collected from the streets of India and the People Pendant, which is made from acrylics scraps from a Chicago sign factory. 10% of Holstee’s proceeds go Kiva, a micro-lending service that helps entrepreneurs in developing countries start their own ventures and follow their dreams.

Holstee will be coming to RISD to engage with students on topics such as: what it means to do sustainable design as a for-profit company, ways to help people improve their communities through partnerships with non-profits and the process of creating and finding the innovative designs that drive its business. Come hear Holstee speak in the ID Gallery on Tuesday, November 23rd at noon!
