The RISD Industrial Design department was proud to have one of their own, Peter Yeadon, as one of the finalists for Design for the 2010 World Technology Awards. The Awards were announced earlier this month at a gala ceremony held in New York by Ali Velshi, CNN Anchor and Chief Business Correspondent and James P. Clark, WTN Founder and Chairman. Yeadon, a member of the faculty here in the ID department teaches two Advanced Design studios that take place in the fall and spring. The fall course, Nanovation, is just drawing to a close this week and his spring studio is titled Biomimicry.
Listed along with Adrian van Hooydonk, Lisa Strausfeld, Neri Oxman, and Yves Behar, Yeadon was one of five finalists to receive this honor. As stated by the release sent out from Decker Yeadon:
The Award winners and finalists are those individuals and organizations who are, in the opinion of the World Technology Network Fellows and Founding Members through the Awards voting process, doing the innovative work of “the greatest likely long-term significance” in their fields. They are those creating the 21st century.
The results were announced from the stage at the World Technology Awards gala ceremony on December 1st at the Time & Life Building in NYC at the conclusion of the two-day (Nov 30 / Dec1) World Technology Summit.
