If electrically conductive nano ink, paintings accented with cat fur, as well as a video on Buckminster Fuller are items that intrigue or fascinate you on any level, you should probably attend the RISD Faculty Biennial currently on display at the RISD Museum of Art.

Just opening this past Friday, the RISD Faculty Biennial is a phenomenal show displaying works by over 207 full and part time members of RISD’s staff. Of those 207, 9 were members of our very own Industrial Design faculty team, including department head Adam Smith. Jenna Goldberg‘s Mountain Flowered tables crafted from basswood and mahogany were on display along with Peter Prip‘s fabricated brass sheet titles “New Egypt.” Adam Smith had three versions of his Ameba Fire Fighters’ seat belt cutting device in the show, in ABS rapid prototype model, CNC cut aluminum, as well as an injection molded version, depicting the various processes of product design associated with Industrial Design. The previously cited electrically conductive nano ink belonged to none other than Peter Yeadon, possibly one of the most fascinating items in the show. Metals teachers and wood teachers were both represented as metals teacher Mickey Ackerman had a piece titled “Where’s Amelia?” and wood teacher George Gordon had a beautiful wooden piece adorned with gold leaf [Pictured Below]. Other Industrial Design faculty members in the show include Kate Blacklock, Matthew Bird, and Beth Mosher. The work is on display until March 20th, so stop by the RISD Museum and check it out!
