If you’ve spent any time whatsoever in the wood shop of the Industrial Design department in the past three years, you’ve probably heard Megan Yuen (BFA ID ’11). Typically adorned in a hot pink apron covered with a repeating pattern of beach sunsets and palm trees, Yuen hails from the island of O’ahu in Hawai’i. Yuen is a monitor in the wood shop, but also works as queen of the monitors, organizing the monitoring shop hours and allocating shifts.
Her bubbly personality is infectious, and her laughter can be heard from the machine room to the tool cabinet. Yuen has a strong focus in craftsmanship and working with materials, fortes that have led her to be approached for both advice and input by both underclassmen and her fellow students. Below are some images of her work in iron-casting, machining aluminum, and wood.
You can see more of her work here. We’ll miss you, Megan!
