RI Business Plan Competition 2012

Ready, Set, Pitch

The below competition is reposted from the Rhode Island Business Plan Competition 2010 invitation.

Dec. 7 is the date for this year’s Elevator Pitch Contest in which participants will present their business ideas in 90 seconds and receive immediate feedback from top, business-building experts — plus a chance to win some of the $1,000 in cash prizes to be awarded.

The Contest — open to all — gets underway at 5 pm at the RI Center For Innovation & Entrepreneurship, One Davol Sq., Providence, and will wrap up at 7 pm when the winners are announced.

If you want to make a pitch, complete an application by clicking here.

Then, practice your pitch. 90 seconds is a short time to tell someone about the problem your innovative idea will solve and how it will make money.

Just want to watch and listen? Please join the audience. You’ll learn a lot, but we ask that you pre-register.

We have a terrific line-up of judges:

Jim Grace, president of InsureMyTrip.com
Charlie Kroll, president & CEO of Andera
Kelly Ramirez, executive director of Social Venture Partners Rhode Island
Barbara Schoenfeld, director of Brooks Houghton & Company, Inc.
Jack Templin, co-founder and CEO of Lockify and partner at Betaspring

Facebook, Twitter, etc.

The RI Business Plan Competition is now available on Facebook, Twitter, on a blog, and on YouTube.
Updated all the time, these social media channels provide useful information, tips, and links relating to the competition and building a new business.

Be sure to also check out Resources available on the RI Business Plan Competition website. Included are presentations by previous winners, expert advice on creating business plans, developing financial projections, and presenting a plan to investors — plus more about creating a new business.
