Fondly nicknamed “Pandora,” this bass guitar was submitted to us by Jay Adams BFA ID ’13, a Junior in the Industrial Design Department. A summer project completed over the course of one month, Pandora fulfilled Adams’ dream of building a custom, handmade bass guitar.

The guitar is crafted from northern ash for its neck and back, curly hard maple for its fretboard, and curly claro walnut for its top.

Below are some videos of his process, meticulously documented via 14 videos posted on his YouTube Channel.
Adams tells us to stay tuned for more of his guitar endeavours on the way; He plans to make several body iterations this Wintersession, including one of redwood with a book-matched padauk top. Others will be combinations of spalted curly maple and buckeye burl.
